A modern straight razor
The challenge was to redesign a traditional straight razor without losing its core handling, balance, and iconic references. It required respecting a deeply rooted typology while elevating it for a contemporary, premium audience.
We approached the project by preserving the ritual and craftsmanship associated with straight razor shaving, while refining ergonomics, proportions, and detailing. The design enhances control and tactile feedback—essential when working with an ultra-sharp blade while introducing a more refined, modern expression.
The result is more than a tool. It is a statement piece: a timeless, luxury object that celebrates precision, mastery, and the deliberate pace of a personal grooming ritual.
God is in the details
Developed for Dovo Solingen, this project focused on reinterpreting a century-old shaving tool within the context of an iconic brand. The challenge was to strike a careful balance: staying true to Dovo’s heritage and craftsmanship while appealing to a contemporary audience.
We approached the design with a nuanced understanding of the brand’s visual language and product legacy, refining form, proportions, and detailing to create a more modern yet respectful evolution. The result is a highly desirable object that fits seamlessly within Dovo’s portfolio while standing out to new users.
Positioned as more than a functional tool, the razor becomes the centerpiece of a considered wellness ritual elevating shaving into a moment of focus, care, and personal expression.
This project was driven by a deep respect for craftsmanship—both in how straight razors are made and how they are used daily by skilled barbers. The goal was to fully deconstruct the traditional razor, then rebuild it into something that feels familiar, yet fundamentally redefined.
By rethinking every component, we developed a design milled from a single block of high-grade titanium. This approach allowed precise control over weight distribution, resulting in a perfectly balanced tool where the center of mass enhances handling and accuracy. Every detail was considered to support the razor’s function as a precision instrument.
The blade remains clean and unmarked, emphasizing purity and focus, while each handle carries an individual production stamp subtly reinforcing craftsmanship and uniqueness.
The result is design in its most distilled form: a refined, performance-driven object where every detail serves a purpose.
